Kelly knew that she always wanted to be in her own business, but opportunity knocked earlier than expected “I said, right I want to be a business owner and I will make it a five-year plan.” When the Woodend hair salon that she had been working in for the previous two years came up for sale, quick decisions had to be made. “Five years became five months” she laughs. Ever since she has strived to make it her reality. So, on the 1st of February Kelly took over. The sign on the window said “Under New Ownership” and it’s a fresh start for Woodend hair design. Inside its tidy, clean and has a very friendly atmosphere. I asked her about how the lockdown had added to her decision to buying into local business. “It was like we needed the rest to prepare for what was to come” she said. “We were flat out for months afterwards. People were so grateful that we were open again it was almost like we should have been considered essential workers” she jokes. Waimak App wishes Kelly and her staff the best of luck for the future. She has a great attitude and is a great stylist. Our business of the week.
